Harry Blome Jr.

Harry Blome Jr., 81, of Stonington passed away at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in his home. He was born on August 16, 1935 in Stonington, the son of Harry Lincoln and Lula (Simpson) Blome. He married Mary E. Shipp on September 11, 1953 at the First Baptist Church in Taylorville. She preceded him in death on January 22, 2013. Harry was a lifelong farmer and raised and showed sheep for many years. Harry was a member of the Stonington First Baptist Church. He and Mary showed and judged sheep all over Illinois and at the Illinois State Fair for over 60 years. He was a member of the Land of Lincoln Board of Directors and inducted into their Hall of Fame. Harry was a past president of the Illinois Oxford Sheep Association. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing in his free time.

 

He is survived by his sons: Gary Blome (Judy) of Florence, Alabama and Terry Blome (Lori) of Pleasant Plans; grandchildren: Dustin Blome (Kelly) of Benton, Arkansas, Trevor Blome (Leah) of Springfield, Aaron Blome (Amy) of Moline, Tiffany Smith (Jason) of Pleasant Plains, Ashley Kochniarczyk (Michael) of Taylorville, Jacob Blome of Bloomington, Evan Rollins (Alicia) of Springfield, Kayla Rollins of St. Pete Beach, Florida, and Alex Blome of Decatur; 11 Great Grandchildren; niece: Donna Hopkins of Rolla, Missouri; nephew: Ronald Bauer of Shingle Springs, California; cousins: Darlene Metzger of Decatur, and Anna Marie Miller of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sisters: Luella Childs and Doris Bauer.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Stonington First Baptist Church with Rev. William Mitchell officiating. Burial will take place in the Old Stonington Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5 until 7 p.m. at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville. Memorials may be left to the Stonington First Baptist Church. McClure Funeral home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is handling arrangements. Mark Baccadutre

Mark Baccadutre, 64, of Taylorville, died at 4:45 a.m., Thursday, June 8, 2017, in his home surrounded by his family.

 

Born on April 3, 1953 in Taylorville, Illinois, Mark was the son of Michael and Elsie (Russell) Baccadutre. He married Carole Bishop on September 22, 1973 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. Mark worked as a coal miner for many years, and later at waste management. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, beekeeping, woodworking, and in his younger years he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also coached little league baseball. Mark was a wonderful storyteller and always had a joke to share. His family meant the world to him. Mark was loved by everyone who came across his path and he will be dearly missed.

 

Mark is survived by his wife Carole, their children: Jason (Nicolette) Baccadutre of St. Joseph, IL; Michelle (Jordan) Fortado of Effingham, IL; grandchildren: Auggie Baccadutre and Marcus Fortado; sister and brother-in-law: Lana and Dave Hixenbaugh; sisters-in-law: Ginger Coy and Becky Bishop; and nephews: Matthew Hixenbaugh and Gunder Reese.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents.

 

In accordance with Mark’s wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services. His family will host a Celebration of Life in the Baccadutre home at a later date. Aida L. Henley

Aida Louise (Llorca) Henley, 70, of Tovey, Il passed away at her home on June 10, 2017.

 

Aida was born on December 10, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Arthur and Zelia (Collebrusco) Llorca. She lived there only six months before moving with her parents to Langleyville, IL. She spent 23 years of her life in Langleyville until her marriage to Wayne Clark Henley. She graduated from Taylorville High School in 1964 and worked with her father in their business the New Way Cleaners until she was married. She married Wayne C. Henley of Tovey on Sunday July 14, 1968 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, IL and they spent the next 46 years together in Tovey, IL until Wayne passed November 10, 2014. He is sadly missed by his family as she will be also. She worked 11 years at St. John’s Hospital after the children were raised. She was a lifetime auxiliary member of the VFW Post # 4495 in Taylorville, IL as well as a lifetime auxiliary member of the American Legion Post # 905 in Kincaid, IL. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church in Kincaid, an Alter and Rosary Society member, along with being an auxiliary member of St. Vincent Hospital. She liked reading poems and working crossword puzzles along with shopping, going out to dinner, traveling, the outdoors, visiting with neighbors, but mainly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and grand dogs. She loved her family and grandchildren and will miss them all so much.

 

She is survived by a son Jeff (Stephanie) Henley of Kincaid IL, a daughter Jami (Eric) Jamieson of Springfield IL, grandchildren Curtis and Connor Henley and Zelia and Rowan Jamieson, a cousin Alan (Karen) Collebrusco, sister-in-law Rita Llorca of Beloit, WI and Fern (Bob) Chance of Kincaid, IL along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, an infant daughter Stephanie Lynn, her parents and a brother Major Arthur Llorca.

 

Funeral Services to be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday June 14, 2017 at Masterson Funeral home, Kincaid IL. Rev. Chad Foster will be officiating with burial service to follow at Bethany Cemetery rural Edinburg IL. Visitation for Aida will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Masterson Funeral Home.

Norma D. Jones

Norma Dean Jones, 91, formerly of Herrick, was called home by the angels on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Prairie Rose Healthcare Center in Pana.

 

Funeral service will be on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Herrick with Pastor Paul Dickerson officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in rural Cowden. Memorials may be made to the Herrick First Responders or Quad County Hospice. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden is assisting the family.

 

Norma was born October 1, 1925 in Brownstown, IL to Ruben J. and Cannie N. Sarver Gallup. She attended school in St. Elmo then moving to Herrick and later graduating in May 1943. She married Daniel Robert Jones in July 1943. They had two children, Carol Sue and Kenny Lee.

 

Norma worked in several factories including a defense plant during WWII and later retired from PR Mallory Inc. She became a caregiver after retiring and cared for many special people. She had a heart of gold and loved her family and helping others.

 

She was a member of the Herrick American Legion Auxiliary, the First Christian Church of Herrick and the Eastern Star in Pana. She loved music, dancing and playing cards with friends.

 

Norma is survived by her family Carol (Harlin) Wallace (daughter) of Herrick; Mae Jones (daughter-in-law) of Herrick; grandchildren: Greg (Dana) Jones of Herrick, Marla (Mike) Myers of Herrick, Chad (Libby) Jones of Herrick and Trent (Kelly) Jones of Mode; 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her brother Melvin, parents Ruben and Cannie Gallup, husband Robert and son Kenny.

Johnn E. Mazzotti

Johnn E. Mazzotti, 74, of Taylorville, died at 10:17 a.m., Monday, June 19, 2017 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital ER. He was born on November 4, 1942 in Taylorville, the son of Joseph and Norma June (Cook) Mazzotti.

 

Johnn’s career in radio began at the age of 15 at WTIM Radio in Taylorville. He was best known as Johnny Payola. He spun platters at sock hops and many high school afterglows. He also played for dancing on the square at different festivals. Johnn graduated from Taylorville High School with the class of 1960. He met his high school sweetheart, Becky Brooks, and they were married in 1963. They moved to Morris, IL where he became a partner in the radio station there. Shortly after, they moved to Jacksonville, IL, where he sold advertising at WLDS Radio. When Keith Mayor built a beautiful TV station in Jacksonville, he asked Johnn to be their sports director. After so many years in broadcasting, Johnn decided on a totally different career as a State Investigator with the Secretary of State Department of Police, retiring after 25 years of service. Mr. Mazzotti was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. When he wasn’t working, he could often be found having coffee at the Country Kitchen, taking a walk in the park looking for change and taking car rides with his dog, Mia, or playing the slot machines. At home, he enjoyed taking care of his yard, tinkering on his car while listening to the oldies, and he especially treasured spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by his friends and his family.

 

Along with his wife of almost 54 years, Mr. Mazzotti is survived by his children: Michelle “Shelli” Smith (husband, Marty) of Taylorville; Lori Hart (husband, David) of Taylorville; grandchildren: Zach Smith (wife, Sammie Jo) of Chesapeake, Virginia; Morgan Smith of Collinsville; Jordan Foor of Taylorville; Victoria Hart of Taylorville; sister-in-law: Susan Pearce of Taylorville; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Vikki Mazzotti; mother and father-in-law: Maxine and Joe Brooks; and brother-in-law: Jack Pearce.

Charles ‘Charlie’ ‘Chuck’ Magos, 69, of Savoy, passed away at 2:00 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Champaign Urbana Rehab and Nursing Center, Savoy.
Charlie was born on March 21, 1948 in Taylorville, IL the son of Steve and Elizabeth (Chamos) Magos.
Charlie married Mindy Gillespie of Bement and they had three children, Sheri Robeck (Chris) of Bement, David Magos (deceased), and Ashley Magos of Bement; 6 grandchildren, Taylor Allen of Bement, step-grandduaghter, Courtney Robeck of Ivesdale, Dawson Magos and Deegan Magos of Bement, Tiera, Taylor, Ma’lsah, and Iman Salahuddin of Bement; and great grandson Rhett Peter of Bement, step-great grandson, Colby James of Ivesdale. He later married Linda Lawing of Tuscola along with three step-daughters, Cindy Daughtery (Keith) of Chrisman, Pam Price of Tuscola, and Michele Tarter of Rantoul (deceased), 9 step-grandchildren Kenny and Kyle Daughtery of Chrisman, Jason Milner and Nikki Lantz, Victoria, Dalton, and Dylan Price all of Tuscola, Shianne and Siarra Tarter of Rantoul; and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Louie Magos (Kay) of Kincaid; sister, Marie Puckett of Taylorville; nieces, Kristie Vicente of Tampa, FL, Lori Blevens of Winston, GA; nephew, Tim Magos of Cleveland, TN; and 6 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son David Magos, stepdaughter Michele Tarter, a sister Veronica Magos and 2 brothers Steve and Joe Magos.     
Charlie retired from Kraft Foods, Inc. after 27 years. Charlie served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and he was a member of the VFW.   
Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Visitation was held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be held in the Bement Township Cemetery. Nancy A. Martin

Nancy Ann Martin, 85, of Taylorville, died at 10:52 p.m.  Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Nancy was born on September 10, 1931, in Springfield, Illinois, the last of nine children born to Virgil and Ethel (Wineman) Campbell. She graduated from Springfield High School class of 1949. Nancy married Phillip Martin on August 12, 1951, and he survives. Mrs. Martin was a Charter member of Taylorville Christian Church, and taught preschool when they first began the program. She adored children, especially her own grandchildren. In her spare time, Mrs. Martin played bridge in three different clubs for over 50 years. Her social life was important to her, and she loved to look nice and visit with her friends.

In addition to her loving husband of almost 66 years, Nancy is survived by her three children: Pamela Martin of Taylorville; Jane DeBerry (husband Keith) of Taylorville; Christopher Martin (wife, Carol) of Springfield; grandchildren: Drew Martin, Blake Martin, Alexander Rickman, Brandon Rickman; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved kitty, Sony.

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings: Dorthea Kendall, Anita Sorenson, Nedra Lueck, Alice Rockwell, William Campbell, James Campbell, Vernon Campbell, and Harrold Campbell.

A celebration of Mrs. Martin’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Taylorville Christian Church, with a visitation an hour prior. Pastor Dick Wamsley will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her honor to: the Animal Protective League, the American Diabetes Association, or the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.  McClure Funeral Home & Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Arlene Tarrant, 80 of Taylorville passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 8:50 p.m. at her residence in Taylorville. She was born on January 3, 1937 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of George and Marcella (Durbin) Bresh. She married Donald Joseph Tarrant on August 29, 1953 in Taylorville, IL. He later preceded her in death on October 18, 2009. Shirley worked as a cashier at IGA and as a homemaker. She was a Member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and the C.D.A. She was a cub scout den mother and a girl scout leader. Shirley loved spending her time painting pictures, reading, working in the garden, and playing the banjo.

Michael D. Sheedy

Michael D. Sheedy, 76, of Palmer, IL passed away at 11:18 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

 

Michael was born May 20, 1941 in Palmer, IL, the son of Dennis and Halene (Nave) Sheedy. He married Helen Dobyns on September 1, 1983 in Taylorville, IL.

 

Michael graduated from Morrisonville High School, and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. He then worked as a Christian County Deputy Sheriff for many years, as well as operating Sheedy’s Colonial Forge as a blacksmith. Michael was a member of St. Maurice’s Catholic Church in Morrisonville, and a member of the American Legion Post 721 in Morrisonville. He enjoyed his work as a gunsmith, rendezvous reenactments, vegetable gardening, and he was known for his excellent storytelling.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Sheedy; and infant sister, Patricia Sheedy.

 

Michael is survived by his wife, Helen Sheedy of Palmer; daughters, Megan (husband, Josh) Bailey of Palmer, and Angela (husband, Jeff) Graham of Stonington; grandchildren, Destiny, Devlin, Kera, Dyllan, Naudia, Annjela, Willow, and Jeffrey; brother, William (wife, Nancy) Sheedy of Morrisonville; sister-in-law, Mick Sheedy; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Graveside Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2017 at Anderson Cemetery in Palmer, IL, with Deacon Patrick O’Toole officiant. Military honors will be provided.

Lori Bedinger, 53 of Taylorville passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at 8:15 p.m. at her residence in Taylorville. She was born on June 13, 1966 in Vandalia, IL the Daughter of Wayne Hathaway and Phyllis Marshall. She married Tim Bedinger on April 17, 1982 in Taylorville, IL.

Those who knew Lori described her as an artistic person with an infectious smile, selfless attitude, playful demeanor, and a strong sense of faith, family and friends. Her word for the year was kindness and that word describes Lori’s true essence. She shared her love of flowers, nature, and music with all those she loved dearly. She believed music could heal the world. In her photography, she shared her view of the world. In her Facebook posts, she shared the enormous love she had for her grandchildren. People all across the country looked forward to reading her daily words of wisdom and wit. Her passion was showing love to others and you always left feeling better and blessed for knowing her. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 4:00-9:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Mary Ann Milslagle, 91 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 10:38 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on February 17, 1926 in Taylorville, IL the Daughter of Willard and Jeannette (Thrash) Hall. She married Bill Milslagle on March 7, 1946 in Decatur, IL. Mary worked as a homemaker and she was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Taylorville.

Surviving are her Daughters: Jacque Vitali of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Janet Milslagle of Taylorville, IL; Molly (Richard) Drennan of Chicago, IL; Mindy Milslagle of Lexington, KY; Grandchildren: Mark Milslagle, Jenny Walker, Cara Drennan and Nicole Drennan; Great-Grandchildren: Nikki Milslagle, Connor Milslagle, Cameron Bieri; Brother: Jim Hall of Glen Ellyn, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband and Son Gary Milslagle.

There will be a private family graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Bill Charles Nelson

Bill Charles Nelson, 78 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 9:12 a.m. at his residence in Taylorville. He was born on May 17, 1939 in Tallahoma, TN the Son of James M. and Martha E. (Choate) Nelson. He married Sonja Sutton on June 23, 1961 in Assumption, IL. Bill worked as a coal miner at Peabody Mine #10.

Surviving are his Wife: Sonja Nelson of Taylorville, IL; Son: William Douglas Nelson of Taylorville, IL; Daughter: Renata Rimkus of Springfield, IL; Grandchildren: Jeremiah and Trisha Rimkus; Elizabeth, Becky and Michael Nelson; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents and siblings.

Roberta M. Hobbs

Roberta M. Hobbs, 85, of Taylorville, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at her residence.

Roberta was born on April 24, 1932 in Springfield the daughter of Harvey Alva and Edith Roberta Pourchot Womack.

Roberta began working in the cafeteria for the schools in Edinburg before going on to work at the Taylorville Correction Center where she retired.

She is survived four sons, Stephen (Sheila) Hobbs of Edinburg, Mark (Sandy) Hobbs of Warrensburg, MO, David (Jan) Hobbs and Tim (Gayle) Hobbs both of Casa Grande, AZ; eight grandchildren, Sara (Tony) Ellinger, Jared (Krista) Hobbs, Jackie (Charly) Crawford, JoEllen (Kurt) Champley, Shane (Brittney) Hobbs, Amy (Gregory) Verbiski, Denee (Brian) Kramer and Ty (Nikki) Hobbs; five step grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; twelve step great-grandchildren; one brother, Rolla Womack; one sister, Marilyn Scott; one brother-in-law, Hewsey Copelin; three sisters-in-law, Delores Hobbs, Marilyn and Virginia Womack; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Edinburg.  Burial will follow at Edinburg Cemetery.

Anita Jean Bass, 62 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 4:50 p.m. at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She was born on December 5, 1954 in Rantoul, IL the Daughter of Richard E. and Lillian L. (McGehee) McKinnon. She married Glenn Bass on March 29, 1985 in Taylorville, IL. She was self-employed for G&AB Opportunities.

Surviving are her Husband: Glenn Bass of Taylorville, IL; Son: Matthew S. Mathon of Decatur, IL; Daughter: Ammie M. Mathon-Chizek of Eldridge, IA; Grandchildren: Andrew, Aidan, Alec and Asher Chizek; Delanee, Alison and Chloe Mathon; Father: Richard McKinnon of Molalla, OR; Sister: Sharon McKinnon-Karasti; Brothers: Scott and Michael Phares; Bradley McKinnon; Step-son: Shane Bass of Mattoon, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Mother Lillian McGehee- Ethridge.

Floyd Durbin

Floyd Eugene Durbin Sr., 87, of Taylorville passed away at 7:47p.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 16, 1930 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Melvin and Agnes Durbin. He married Dorothy Marie Johnson on May 6, 1946 in Taylorville. Floyd retired from Circle Steele after 35 years and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He had a love for country music and enjoyed playing his guitar. Floyd enjoyed fishing, gardening, and was a skilled repairman of small engines. Most of all he cherished the time spend with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy; children: Donald Durbin (Ella) of Clarkston, Michigan, Melvin Durbin (Diana) of Nokomis, Gene Durbin (Sandy) of Jefferson City, Oregon, Sherry Stewart of Taylorville, Deanna Vota (Martin) of Taylorville, and Steve Durbin (Nikki) of Taylorville; 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and sister-in-law: Irma Durbin of Biloxi, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 12 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for Mr. Durbin will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Tom Bellegante officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Cemetery. Gene Elliott Bouvet, 84, of Tovey passed away at 7:15a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. He was born on July 28, 1932, the son of Desire and Minnie (McComb) Bouvet. On April 30, 1949, he married Phyllis Ray in Morganfield, Kentucky. Gene retired from Peabody Coal Mine #10 and 8 after 44 years of service. After retiring, Gene and Phyllis spend many winters in Texas. He was a member of the Midland United Methodist Church. Gene was known as “Garage Sale Junkie”. He always enjoyed checking out sales, visiting with friends, and came home with countless clocks, lawn mowers, vacuums, and other treasures.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years: Phyllis Bouvet; daughters: Christina Pezze (Tony) of Chatham, Phyllis Harter (David) of Tovey, and Joyce Baird of Tovey; sons: Gene Bouvet (Karen) of Jacksonville and Don (Kathy) Bouvet of Stonington; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 3 brothers, and granddaughter: Stacey Groves.

Mr. Bouvet will be cremated and a graveside service will take place at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Bethany Cemetery in rural Edinburg with Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Ida Margaret Bateson, 91, of Taylorville passed away at 7:15a.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2017 in her home. She was born on November 19, 1925 in Coello, Illinois, the daughter of William B. and Linda (Marcari) Rogers. She married Wilfred Bateson on July 15, 1944 in Taylorville, and he preceded her in death on January 21, 2002. Margaret was a skilled seamstress and previously worked at Rothley’s Dress Factory in Kincaid and Lee’s in Taylorville. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was an avid reader, loved to cook, and enjoyed many summers camping and boating at the family lake lot.

She is survived by her son-in-law: Robert Givens of Taylorville; granddaughter: Alexis Givens, husband Ken McCallon, of Springfield; sisters: Mary Ann Buschon (William) of Taylorville and Wilda Tresso (Frank) of West Frankfort; step great granddaughters: Alena McCallon and Elizabeth McCallon; step great-great granddaughter: Penelope McCallon all of Kirkwood, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter: Cynthia Givens.

Funeral service for Mrs. Bateson will be held at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz and Rev. Tom Bellegante officiating. Tommy Ray Smith, 40, of Girard, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 in Nokomis, IL surrounded by his loving family.

 

Tommy was born December 6, 1976 in Fillmore, IL, the son of Dick and Janet Marie (Smith) Jones.

 

Tommy worked for local farmers and roofing contractors. He was hardworking and funny, and enjoyed working on cars, especially Chevy’s.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother; grandmother, Dorothy Smith; and grandpa, Oliver Smith.

 

Tommy is survived by his sons, Cody R. (fiancée, Jessie Greenwalt) Smith of Girard, Hunter A. Smith of Auburn, and Kayden Bess of Morrisonville; the love of his life, Tonya Boggs of Auburn; father, Dick Jones of Nokomis; siblings, Dicky (fiancée, Sara Mose) of Rosamond, Jessica Jones of Nokomis, Greg Jones of Nokomis, Josh (wife, Heather) Jones of Taylorville, Matt (fiancée, Elizabeth Blake) of Kincaid, and Lisa Harker of Taylorville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Visitation: The family will receive guests from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 304 Carlin St., Morrisonville, IL 62546.

Loretta Ann Luttrell, 81 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 8:15 p.m. at Hickory Estates in Taylorville. She was born on January 24, 1936 in Stonington, IL the Daughter of Lloyd and Pearl (Pyle) Luttrell. Loretta graduated from Taylorville High school and Business College in Omaha, NE. She worked at the Social Security office in Springfield until her retirement.

Surviving are her by Sisters: Darlene Collebrusco of Taylorville, IL; Nancy Andrews of Taylorville, IL; Joyce Woods of Taylorville, IL; Aunt: Betty Meikle of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents and her Friend Jonne Welton.

Loretta’s wishes were to be cremated and there will be a private graveside service at a later date with Pastor Gerald McPhillips officiating. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Jerry Lee Smith

Jerry Lee Smith, 76 of Stonington, passed away at 6:35 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital E.R. He was born on April 17, 1941 in Taylorville, the son of Earl Thadeus and Melba (Brown) Smith. He married Martha Jarvis on February 17, 1973 in Leesville, Louisiana. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a mechanic. He proudly completed two tours of duty in both Vietnam and Germany. After retiring from the Army, Jerry worked many years as a grain handler for the Stonington Coop. Jerry loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. He spent many months each year at his lake lot and also loved camping at Beaver Dam so he could be close to his grandsons. Jerry was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and NASCAR and enjoyed bowling. He was a skilled handyman and enjoyed working on cars and other projects around the house. Most of all he cherished the time spent with his family.

 

He is survived by his wife: Martha J Smith of Stonington; sons: Jason B. Smith of Stonington and Jeffrey M. Smith (Sarah) of Carlinville; grandchildren: Isobel Smith of Cayuga, Indiana and Sawyer and Augie Smith both of Carlinville; brother: Ronald N. Smith (Nancy) of Greenville; and nephew: Aaron Smith (Brook) of Longmont, Colorado. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather: Charles I Durbin, and son: Joshua C. Smith.

Jerry will be cremated and inurned along with his son, Joshua, at the Old Stonington Cemetery. A graveside service for Jerry and Joshua will be held at 11a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017 in the cemetery with Rev. William Mitchell and Rev. Larry Mason officiating along with military honors.
